Summer is here, there’s no denying it! Which means it’s time to get in shape (if you’ve procrastinated this winter) and get outside! If you’re like me you’re dying to go to the pool, or the beach, or the lake, or wherever (it doesn’t really matter). But I warn you, don’t skimp on the eye protection!
I don’t know of anyone who hasn’t put on a pair of gas station sunglasses and checked themselves out while waiting in line. And I’ll admit it’s tempting to change up your look for just a few bucks, but you’d be inflicting immeasurable damage to yourself!
When you put on a pair of shades, the area around your eye is shaded (see what I did there?... “shades”…. well I thought it was clever). This means your pupils will dilate to allow for more light to come into your eye so that you can see better. This is where it all goes wrong!
Ultra Violet (UV) rays cause an alarming amount of damage to your skin and eyes. So if you’ve got a pair of gas station sunglasses that offer no protection against UV rays, when you throw those pair on your pupils will dilate to allow more light in and along with it more UV rays. Causing your eyes to me exposed to more harmful UV rays then necessary.
So what can you do? At the very least doctors recommend using sunglasses that block out harmful UV rays. But we can do better then the “very least”. Doctors and dermatologists agree that the best protection you can give your eyes are polarized sunglasses. That’s right, polarized sunglasses just like our Rebellion frames! (Selfish promotion inserted)
So do yourself a favor this summer and grab a pair of polarized sunglasses (preferably our Rebellions) before you head out to show off your beach body. Your future self will thank you for it!
